overturned a decision which would have prevented development of a house on Harbour Road in Paget.

And applicants Mr. Joe Tee and his wife, artist Mrs. Carole Holding, say they are delighted with his decision.

The plans for a two storey house were submitted earlier this year. Mr. Tee said: "At the time we spoke to 16 neighbours and we only had one complaint.'' Although they had removed a fence giving the complainant a better view the house would encroach on another view.

Mr. Tee said reports that many people on Harbour Road had complained were "a surprise'' because he had not heard of more than one.

Members of the Development Applications Board refused the plans, claiming they were out of character with the rest of Harbour Road. But then Dr. Saul overturned the decision.

Mr. Tee added: "We were delighted with the Minister's decision. The plan was in line with the rest of Harbour Road.

"It has two storeys. You can see one storey from the roadside and two storeys from the waterside.

"After the Minister's decision we bought the property. We have gone out and sold our house and we will be moving in later next year when it should be substantially completed.'' The couple have lived in Bermuda for 25 years.

The DAB approved plans this week for an office building on Par-la-ville Road in Hamilton.

Renovations to the chef's cottage at Bermuda Properties Ltd., in Hamilton Parish was also approved. Plans include the addition of a swimming pool, bedroom suites and a second level.

The board deferred an application by the Willowbank Foundation for 40 housing units for the elderly at Southlands in Warwick.
