Minister receives second escape report
to discuss the Brian Rogers escape.
The Hon. Quinton Edness said a report on the December 16 escape had just landed on his desk.
"I have cursorily gone over it, but will be studying it in greater depth.'' Mr. Edness said the "bare essentials'' of the report would be publicised shortly.
A report on Rogers' break-out was originally given to Acting Social Services Minister the Hon. Michael Winfield because Mr. Edness was off the Island.
But Mr. Winfield sent it back, saying it failed to answer important questions.
"Another report has been produced, and I now have it,'' explained Mr. Edness.
The Minister scotched any suggestion the prison authorities were not taking the escape seriously.
He blamed problems with the report on the Christmas and New Year holidays.
