$2,500 worth of property yesterday asked a judge to impose a curfew on her son if he planned to release him on bail.

"Make it from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. as well if you're going to bail him,'' exclaimed Shannon Trott's mother from the gallery in Magistrates' Court.

Trott, of Hermitage Road, Smith's Parish, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering his next door neighbour's home and stealing goods worth $2,905. About $1,900 worth of goods have since been recovered.

Magistrates' Court heard that Vicky Lightbourne returned home on January 7 and found it had been entered and ransacked.

A number of items had been stolen, including stereo equipment, a camera, a video camera, compact discs and jewellery.

Fingerprints were taken from the scene as Police mounted an investigation.

Mrs. Lightbourne's husband Brian later found some of the stereo equipment and the video camera hidden in an area across the street from where Trott lived with his grandparents.

Trott's grandmother made a discovery of her own when she went into his bedroom and found a number of the missing items. She contacted the Police and delivered her grandson to their doorstep.

During an interview Trott said he had found the jewellery and had bought the stereo equipment from a man who also gave him the compact discs free.

Samples of his fingerprints were taken and were found to match the prints discovered in the ransacked house.

Senior Magistrate William Francis said "it's an ideal case for a social inquiry report'' and was about to bail Trott for $500 with a like surety when his mother requested the curfew.

He agreed and ordered that Trott be home each day between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
