Motorcyclist `ove the limit'

was fined $400 and taken off the road for 12 months when he appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Ronald Gladwin Trott, of Stovell's Bay Road, pleaded guilty to the offence, committed on April 19.

Police Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said that a Police patrol spotted Trott riding a motorcycle on a dirt road near Devon Springs Road.

They became suspicious after Trott accelerated in a northerly direction toward Hermitage Road, and failed to stop at a stop sign.

Trott continued onto Verdmont Road and appeared to be trying to avoid Police who eventually pulled him over.

Officers detected a smell of alcohol on his breath and a breath test revealed he had 113 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Trott told the Senior Magistrate that he was not trying to avoid the Police, because he said they never had their sirens on.
