MPs' salaries under review

Formation of the committee was announced in the Budget Speech read by Finance Minister the Hon. David Saul on February 14.
Dr. Saul noted that MPs last received a pay increase in 1988 and the committee was to "make recommendations to the House for any increases considered appropriate.'' The committee was also to "address the question of the increasing unfunded liability in the Ministers and Members Pension Fund,'' brought to Government's attention by an actuary last year.
Named to the committee on Monday were the Hon. Clarence Terceira (UBP), Mr.
John Barritt (UBP), Mr. Reginald Burrows (PLP), Dr. David Dyer (UBP), Ms Pamela Gordon (UBP), Mr. Walter Lister (PLP), and Ms Jennifer Smith (PLP). MPs are paid a basic salary of $24,600.
