They praised the old soldiers for defying the rain during the Remembrance Day parade.

Premier David Saul said the Bermuda War Veterans' Association had been "exemplary''.

Works Engineering Minister Leonard Gibbons singled out the association's president Frank Farmer for praise.

"He does a wonderful job,'' he told the House of Assembly.

Mr. Gibbons said Remembrance Day encouraged people to reflect on the supreme sacrifice people had made in the name of freedom.

Also yesterday MPs congratulated Bermudian Edmund Tucker on being appointed general manager at Stonington Beach Hotel.

Shadow Tourism Minister David Allen said the Opposition Progressive Labour Party had long pressed for a Bermudian to fill such a post.

MPs also asked the House to send condolences to several people in the community, including Charlie Armstrong, of Smith's Parish, and Walter Thompson, of St. George's.
