The Development Applications Board announced yesterday its approval of the plan submitted by Mrs. Renee Edgecombe that will take the Salt Kettle property out of the hotel business.

The investment group which purchased the 41-room hotel early this year had originally planned to develop the hotel into 14 residential units but the number was later reduced to four.

Mrs. Edgecombe last night declined to comment on the new plan.

DAB minutes released yesterday show the new plan involves converting by "internal construction and minor external revisions to create four new dwelling units from existing buildings.'' The plan names Campanile West as one unit and describes it as a one bedroom unit with a guest suite. Campanile East is to be a three bedroom unit that will include an existing pool and a new two storey addition.

The Kettle is to be a one bedroom unit. The fourth unit, Campbell Corners, is to have three bedrooms and an attached house for a housekeeper and a nanny.

In granting approval, the Board said: "The land shall not be subdivided without the permission of a Planning application and the express consent of the Development Applications Board.'' The Board also said that parking and manoeuvring spaces for at least one car for each unit shall be provided in compliance with the 1992 Bermuda Plan.

It also required the developers to properly landscape the site.

Mrs. Edgecombe was required to apply for a separate building permit for the project.
