Brothers Anthony and Kenny Basden already face a probe from the Bermuda Football Association about the incident which occurred at the end of the FA Cup quarter final match at Frog Lane Field.

Kenny Basden was sent off after swearing at linesman Richard Knight, and trouble continued to flare after the final whistle.

The player's father helped cool tempers but his brother then also became involved until fans and team members stepped in.

Moments later Mr. Knight was hit on the head as he walked away.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said yesterday: "A 62-year-old groundsman became embroiled in the incident and suffered chest injuries when the culprits turned on him. He was taken to hospital where he was treated and later released.''
