The students have been learning about the lifestyles of children like them in countries all over the globe.

And a term's study culminated recently in a school play, "Santa Takes A Trip Around The World,'' which involved all the pupils.

Some 165 children took part in the play which featured various types of music and received the support of parents and the community.

Director of the play, Ms Angie Hayward, said: "The project took up the whole curriculum from September to Christmas.

"We had a really good response from the community. The Mandela Freedom Drummers gave up their lunch hour for a whole month.'' Ms Hayward said all those involved in the play were delighted when it received a standing ovation from the audience. "They have never seen anything like it at the school,'' she said.

During the term children learned about the geography of countries, the traditions, the currency and even brought in food popular in other countries.
