A spokesman confirmed officers carried out a search of the scene at around 9 p.m. but found no evidence of a round being fired.

"We can't prove that it happened and we can't prove that it didn't happen,'' he said.

It is the second time in a week that suspected gunshots have been heard in the area.

Last Wednesday night Police were called to Frog Lane, Devonshire after several possible gunshots were heard.
