Shortly before 1 a.m., Police conducting speed checks on Palmetto Road, Devonshire saw a Honda scooter speed through the radar trap. Officers pursued the vehicle and eventually stopped the rider in the Parsons Lane area.

A violent struggle ensued and additional Police units were called to help arrest the suspect on suspicion of stealing the cycle.

A subsequent search of the suspect uncovered a small canister containing a rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine.

Police are continuing their investigation and the offender is expected to be before a Magistrate in due course.
