In all 696,197 room nights were sold which was less than the 1995 figure and a full 63,832 room nights short of the 1994 figure.

Hotel and cottage colonies combined achieved a final occupancy of 24.7 percent which is 2.9 points behind the level attained in December 1995 and 5.7 points behind that recorded in 1994.
