But when the claim was put to court officer Tracey Kelly, he responded: "Absolute nonsense.'' While he admitted the double-fining happened occasionally, it was not happening anywhere near as much as suggested. POLICE SEEK WOMAN RESCUER POL FIR Police seek woman rescuer Police are appealing for a woman rescuer to come forward after she helped pull a man out of his burning apartment.

Firefighters helped the woman, thought to be in her 20s, to drag the 44-year-old man away from the flames on Huntley Lane, Sandys, at 8.45 p.m. on Tuesday. A Police spokeswoman said: "With the assistance of the woman, the man could finally be pulled to safety uninjured and Police would like to convey their gratitude for her assistance.

"She is being asked to contact Sgt. Haynes at the Somerset Police station on 234-1010.'' PTD INVESTIGATE BUS--TRUCK COLLISION TRA AC PTB investigate bus/truck collision Transport bosses have launched an internal investigation after a PTB bus smashed into a parked garbage truck.

The woman bus driver suffered minor back injuries and the driver and passenger in the truck were also slightly hurt during the collision, which occured in Pembroke on Tuesday afternoon.

But Dan Simmons, assistant director of the Public Transportation Department, said there were no passengers on the bus at the time.

And he said the department's accident review committee had already started an inquest into what caused the 1 p.m. crash at the junction of Palmetto Road and Bishop Spencer Road.

Mr. Simmons said the bus, which was not in service and returning to the depot, would be out of action for at least a week.

He added: "We're still collecting estimates of exactly how much damage was caused. The bus driver was taken to hospital, checked and allowed to go home.

She has filed the accident report and we are thankful that there were no passengers on board at the time.

"The bus was built in 1983 so it will be out of service for a week or so. Now the accident will be reviewed, which is routine, and the appropriate action will be taken.''
