four bikes and a building yesterday.

The 72-year-old driver escaped unhurt from the wreckage of his smashed Mazda after ploughing into the front entrance of an office building on Church Street, Hamilton.

Shocked onlookers watched in dismay as the car careered out of control and into a parked Toyota truck.

The Mazda then smashed into four parked bikes and ended up on the front steps of Chevron House, slamming into a steel barrier.

Nobody was injured in the accident just before 11.30 a.m.

And Police said the driver, from Pembroke, lost control because his accelerator pedal had become jammed to the floor.

A spokeswoman said: "The driver had been parked on Church Street when he started his car and the accelerator got stuck, causing a collision with the truck and four bikes.'' Police are appealing for witnesses to contact 295-0011.
