Satara Caisey asked: "Dear God, Why do we have to go to school because I think it is boring and why do we have to dy(i)e?'' She suggested: "I think you should keek(p) the people that you have.'' The eight-year-old West Pembroke School student also said: "I would like to know what you look like.'' It was simply signed: "Your friend Satara. I am 8.'' The envelope -- addressed to God and complete with 20 cent stamp -- landed on Postmaster General Clevelyn Crichlow's desk because his staff did not know where to send it.

It was mailed at Bailey's Bay Post office in Hamilton Parish, said Satara's mother Margaret who works at the law firm of Richards, Francis and Francis.

Satara told The Royal Gazette yesterday that she got the idea from an Oprah Winfrey show where the famous talk show host was reading out other letters children had written to God.

"I thought they were funny so I started writing a note after the show and finished it the next day. Then I sent it.'' Her mum added: "She did ask me if she could do it -- I couldn't tell her no.'' Satara said life at school could be made more interesting if the pupils had more equipment to play with on the field -- and a swimming pool. She added that she would also like it if her music teacher could have a classroom like the other teachers instead of having to take singing lessons in the assembly hall where "we have to sit on the floor''.

As far as God's appearance goes? "I've seen a picture of him but I don't know if that's what he really looks like,'' she said. "Maybe in heaven he is dressed all in green or maybe he wears all sorts of colours -- I don't know.'' Mr. Critchlow said: "I thought it was cute -- such faith in the Post Office that we deliver anywhere. She just wrote a letter and dropped it in the mail.''
