Seven appear in court on drugs charges
The first woman charged in connection with the massive drug-busting Operation Cleansweep appeared in court yesterday alongside another six men.
The seven are charged with a variety of drugs offences which allegedly took place in Warwick, Devonshire, Pembroke, Smith's and Sandys between April and June.
All the accused either pleaded not guilty or asked for trial in Supreme Court -- meaning they were not required to enter a plea at this stage.
First up at Magistrates Court was Cannoth Roberts, 20, accused of one charge of supplying crack cocaine.
Roberts, of Middle Road, Southampton, elected for a Supreme Court trial and made no plea.
Defence lawyer Lawrence Scott made no application for bail and Senior Magistrate Will Francis remanded the accused in custody for mention on June 25.
Trevor Simons, 30, is charged with four counts of supplying crack cocaine and one charge of supplying cannabis.
The offences are claimed to have taken place, mostly in the Warwick area, between April 15 and May 2.
It is alleged Simons acted with another man on one of the cocaine counts and the cannabis charge.
Simons, of Eastdale Lane, Warwick, asked for trial in Magistrates' Court and entered pleas of not guilty to all the charges.
Defence lawyer Mark Pettingill made no application for bail and Simons was remanded in custody for mention on June 18.
Antoine Darrell, 28, faces four charges of supplying crack cocaine between April 16 and April 26, again mostly in the Warwick area.
Darrell, of Kilderry Close, Smith's, faces another charge of possessing cannabis in Smith's Parish on June 10.
The accused, represented by Philip Perinchief, elected for a Supreme Court trial, made no plea and was remanded in custody.
Jomar Dill faces two allegations that he supplied crack cocaine in the Devonshire area on two occasions on May 12.
Dill is also represented by Mr. Perinchief. There was no application for bail for Dill, who asked to be tried in Supreme Court.
Dill, 23, of Seagull Lane, Pembroke, was remanded in custody until June 25 for mention.
Shejuan White, 25, who was not represented, faces one charge of supplying crack cocaine in Pembroke.
White, of Friswell's Hill, Pembroke, asked for trial in Magistrates' Court and pleaded not guilty. Senior Magistrate Will Francis remanded him in custody for mention on June 25.
Duane Gibbons, 32, Keith Hall Estate Road, Warwick, faces a total of five charges, four of supplying crack cocaine and one of supplying cannabis.
The offences are alleged to have taken place in Warwick between April 18 and May 10. It is further alleged Gibbons was acting with another man on one of the crack cocaine charges.
Gibbons, represented by Michael Scott, pleaded not guilty to all the charges and elected for a Magistrates Court trial. Bail was denied and the accused was remanded in custody for trial on July 22.
The only woman accused, Jodi Nesbitt, 34, Scott's Hill Road, Sandys, faces one charge of supplying heroin derivative diamorphine in Sandys, a charge of supplying crack cocaine and another of supplying cannabis. The offences are alleged to have taken place last month.
Nesbitt, represented by Elizabeth Christopher, made no application for bail and was remanded in custody for trial in Magistrates Court on July 23.
