On Tuesday evening a juror in the trial of Lang Onley and Richard Ricardo Steede sent a note to Onley's lawyer -- Mark Pettingill, informing him that she was feeling ill.

The juror was taken by Police to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital that day.

The afternoon was then dominated with legal arguments.

Onley, 40, of 12 Harvest Lane, Hamilton Parish and Steede, 39, of 12 Kitty's Lane, Hamilton, are charged with conspiring to import cocaine, possession with intent to supply, and handling more than a pound of cocaine with a street value $138,000.

The drugs were imported in 16 golf clubs via the airport between March 28 and 31, last year.

Yesterday morning's proceedings were put off again as defence lawyers Richard Hector and Mr. Pettingill considered whether to continue the case with the remaining 11 members of the jury.

Mr. Hector, who represents Steede, told Puisne Judge Norma Wade-Miller his client had instructed him not to proceed with one juror absent.

The sick juror was able to return to court by 2:30 p.m. therefore Mrs. Justice Wade-Miller adjourned the case until Monday and warned the remaining members of the jury to show up for the trial.
