witness, and damaging property laid against him yesterday in Supreme Court.

Floyd McCoy Smith, of Friswells Hill, pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding Lovette Robinson with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and damaging a window and screen door belonging to Robinson valued at more than $60, all on May 13 last year.

Smith pleaded not guilty to injuring Robinson -- she was scheduled to appear as a witness against him.

Crown counsel Mr. Brian Calhoun, prosecuting, agreed to the guilty pleas and asked Chief Justice Mr. Justice Ward to allow the witness intimidation charge to remain on file, although he would not pursue the matter.

Lawyer Mr. Archibald Warner, defending, asked for a social inquiry report to be prepared.

Mr. Ward ordered the report, and set the matter for sentencing on June 6.

Smith is remanded in custody.

BERMUDA TO HOST CONFERENCE FOR NURSES CON Nurses from around the world will be taking part in the 19th Caribbean Nurses' Organisation Conference which will be hosted on the Island.

Bermuda was chosen to host this year's conference, at the Marriott Castle Harbour Hotel in November.

The theme will be `Nursing in a Changing Environment' and topics of discussion will include the financing of health care in a declining economy, alternative medicine, and focusing attention to the ever changing needs of the consumers.

President of the Bermuda Nurses Association Ms Patrice Dill said: "The concepts explored during this international exchange of ideas will be invaluable to Bermuda's nurses and will be relevant to virtually every aspect of health care.'' Guest speaker for the conference will be President of the International Council of Nurses Ms Margretta Styles.
