Magistrates' Court yesterday admitted charges of assault, breaking and entering and stealing.

Perry Mosley Puckerin Jr. of St. Monica's Road pleaded guilty to stealing a Bank of Butterfield cheque from his father in mid-June last year. He also admitted to related forgery charges including inducing a Bank of Butterfield employee to give him $666.

Puckerin also pleaded guilty to breaking and entering Quinton Binns' house in St. George, to stealing $100 on February 3, 1992 and to assaulting Rajee Shaqir last December 17.

Police Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said that Binns reported to Police on February 4, 1993, that someone broke into his house and stole a Bank of Bermuda bag containing $100.

A Belco employee, who was at the house reading a metre, reported seeing a youth dressed in a school uniform leaving the house by the front door. The youth was carrying a white Bank of Bermuda bag.

Later that day, the Belco worker said he saw the youth again at the Somers Supermarket.

On February 5, the Belco worker went to the school and identified Puckerin as the person he saw leaving the house on February 3.

Neither the bag or its $100 contents were recovered.

Insp. Duffy added that Puckerin was involved in an assault on Rajee Shaqir on December 17.

He said Shaqir was standing at a Hamilton Terminal bus stop when he was approached by a group of boys around 5.40 p.m. Words were exchanged and Shaqir was punched in the chest.

As he defended himself, Puckerin punched him in the face. Shaqir sustained cigarette burns to his face neck and hands as a result of the attack.

In a third incident, Insp. Duffy told the court that Puckerin's father was expecting a cheque from a travel agent to arrive in the mail.

When the cheque did not arrive, inquiries showed it had been sent but that his son had endorsed it.

Duty Counsel Ms Elizabeth Christopher said that given the circumstances, a social inquiry report would be appropriate.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis agreed and adjourned the case until February 28, for the report.

JAIL FOR MAN GUILTY OF INDECENT ACT CTS A 67-year-old man, with many convictions for indecent acts in public places, was sentenced in Magistrates' Court yesterday to six months in prison after pleading guilty to masturbating on Front Street.

Hilgrove Eugene Scott, of no fixed address, admitted the offence that occurred about 7 a.m. on Saturday.

An off-duty Police officer on Front Street saw Scott standing on the sidewalk masturbating. The officer identified himself to Scott and arrested him.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis, noting Scott's long record for indecent acts including convictions within the past two years, said: "You obviously need a lot of help.

"I hope somehow you get some. You are getting up in age, but this is the sort of behaviour we cannot allow in a public place.'' Mr. Francis then sentenced Scott to six months in prison.

MAN ARRESTED FOR BREAK-INS CRM Police have arrested a man believed to be responsible for a number of break-ins around the Island.

He was detained in the early hours of Saturday as a result of the actions of an observant security guard at the Hamilton Princess Hotel, a Police spokesman said.

The 35-year-old Paget resident will be appearing in plea court.
