Stadium trustees launch new bid to find general manager
manage and promote activities at the centre, which includes National Stadium.
Chairman Mr. Donald Lines yesterday said this is the board's second attempt to fill the post which comes with a negotiable salary.
A large number of non-Bermudians applied for the general manager post when it was advertised earlier this year, he said, and the board selected someone "who we believed to be a Bermudian''.
But it was later discovered that the successful applicant was a non-Bermudian.
"So we're going through the advertising process again,'' Mr. Lines said.
The general manager's responsibilities include: Managing and overseeing the activities of secretary, grounds manager and assistant groundskeepers at the sports complex which will include the stadium, Frog Lane Field, a headquarters, administrative area, and changing rooms; Preparing the annual report on the centre's activities; Ensuring that a regular maintenance programme is established and maintained for all facilities; and Assisting and overseeing the construction of all facilities at the centre.
The successful applicant is expected to have a degree in business management or sports administration and be familiar with the framework and rules governing the administration and promotion of sport and cultural events.
He or she must also be a "highly motivated self-starter with proven management experience, together with strong and highly developed interpersonal and writing skills''.
The board of trustees noted that they will offer a "competitive'' salary and benefits package.
The deadline for applications is August 20.
