Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl Ann Mapp told Paco Talieph Fubler that Police, the courts, and probation officers were tired of seeing him.

Fubler, who is serving a nine-month jail term for indecently assaulting a young woman last year and ignoring 100 hours of community service imposed on him, pleaded guilty to assaulting a Police officer on March 29 on Angle Street.

The young father, who has spent time at the Co-ed facility in St. George's, also admitted to violently resisting arrest, escaping lawful custody, and intentionally obstructing a Police officer while the officer was exercising his powers under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Asked if he had anything to say before being sentenced, Fubler told Mrs. Mapp: "I'm looking the other way. I'm tired of going in and out of prison. I don't even want to see the new prison''.

Mrs. Mapp said it was never too late to change.

"But change has to come from within. Until you start to make changes for yourself, you're going to continue this cycle of institutions.

"You're 18-years-old. You have a child. What kind of example are you setting for this child? All you'll be is someone she sees now and again because you're in and out of this revolving door of institutions.'' Mrs. Mapp called Fubler's actions on March 29 "stupid''. But she said she was willing to give him a chance.

She granted Fubler a 12-month conditional discharge for assaulting the Police officer, violently resisting arrest, and obstruction.

Fubler was also ordered to pay $150 or spend 15 days in prison for escaping lawful custody.

Mrs. Mapp said the 15 days could run concurrently with Fubler's present prison term.

"I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt,'' she said. "You're going to be in jail for at least the next four months so that almost guarantees that you will not get in trouble.

"But after that, nobody around here wants to see you.

"Go get a job Mr. Fubler, lead a quiet life, and look after your child.

"I've given you the benefit of every last doubt. But if you choose to do things that land you in prison, you will only have yourself to blame.''
