More than 40 colleges and universities took part in this week's event at the Princess Hotel in Hamilton.

The fair offered students the chance to learn first-hand about entrance requirements, tuition and other important information from representatives from American, Canadian and British schools.

And students at the fair overwhelmingly endorsed the usefulness of the exercise.

"It's been helpful and I have found it interesting,'' said 14-year-old Charlene Brown of the Berkeley Institute.

Fellow Berkeleyite 16-year-old Nathan Dill said the fair had helped steer him towards attending American International College.

"I was here last year, so this year I just went to check up on the school I was interested in,'' Nathan explained. " They should definitely continue to hold this because there's no other way we would know about all of these colleges. This exposes us to what's out there.'' The visiting representatives also endorsed the fair as a worthwhile exercise.

"It's going really well,'' Andrea Manning of Wheelock College said. "I'm really impressed with the students, they are really pleasant to talk to.'' The three-day fair got underway on Wednesday with a welcome reception for the visiting college representatives, Ministry of Education officials, local principals and other invited guests.

On Thursday night a workshop entitled `Navigating the College Admission Process' was held for parents and students.
