Police a suspicious package thought to contain drugs.

Last Friday, principal Eunice Jones wrote to parents about the incident earlier that afternoon when students found a "plant like substance'' on St.

Michael's Road, Paget.

Education Permanent Secretary Michelle Khaldun confirmed the incident, praising all involved in the disturbing find.

Ms Khaldun said: "Mrs. Jones took the proper steps to keep everyone informed.

She managed the situation well so that parents would get the correct information.'' Ms Khaldun said students turned over the suspicious package to the school's counsellor who contacted Police.

A Police spokeswoman also confirmed the incident, saying what were believed to be "illicit drugs'' were recovered by Police around 3 p.m. last Friday.

The contents of the package were taken to the Government analyst for study to determine whether or not it was cannabis.

The incident occurred on the last day of school before the Christmas break.
