yesterday after a leaking roof caused flooding.

The flooding, in the school's old main building, was the result of heavy rainfall and construction at the school.

"The roof from the third floor of the old main building was leaking,'' Acting Chief Education Officer Maxinne Esdaille said. "It's part of the problem when you add an old building to a new one.'' School officials tried to contact parents of students in the school's M2 and S2 classes shortly before releasing the students at noon.

Classes in unaffected sections of the school continued.

Meanwhile, education officials met with representatives from the Works and Engineering Ministry and the construction companies working at the site.

"It looks as though they will be able to fix it in the short term by patching the roof,'' Mrs. Esdaille said yesterday afternoon.

And all of Dellwood's 335 students were expected to return to school today.

"We expect to have the children here and we're working on relocating them to other areas (of the school),'' she added.

Problems with the roof of the old building were expected to be completely rectified by next term.
