hotel president Michael Naess said yesterday.

The 37-unit hotel wants to build three three-bedroom suites on the eastern side of the property. Surf Side is going to a small piece of property near the proposed three-storey building for access.

Mr. Naess said plans for the building are going to be submitted to the Planning Department soon. He said the suites were being built due to demand from tourists who wanted to share accommodations with friends.

"There is a shift in product demand,'' he said.

He also noted Surf Side was having a good year. Bookings were up 15 percent over the same time last year.

"We are having a great year,'' Mr. Naess said. "We are very bullish.'' ONE-DAY CONFERENCE AT COLLEGE CON EDC One-day conference at College The Prevention of Money Laundering & Cybercrime conference is being held today at the Bermuda College.

The Bermuda International Business Association (BIBA) and the Bermuda Insurance Institute have teamed up to host the one-day conference.

Speakers include representatives from the National Criminal Intelligence Service of the UK's Treasury Department, from Bermuda's Ministry of Finance, and from the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

The conference will kick off with opening remarks by Premier Pamela Gordon.
