Senior Magistrate Will Francis remanded the man in custody until October 15 or until he gets a lawyer for an expected bail hearing.

appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis remanded the man in custody until October 15 or until he gets a lawyer for an expected bail hearing.

The man -- who cannot be named for legal reasons -- did not have to plead to the six charges.

He only spoke to confirm for Mr. Francis that he did not have a lawyer and said "I'm standing ain't I?'' when the Magistrate asked if he was the accused person.

The man is charged with breaking and entering one victim's home and stealing an unknown amount of money, sexually assaulting her while possessing a knife, and robbing the woman of $500 while armed.

He is also charged with sexual assault and armed robbery of $150 from the other woman. The sixth charge is one of depriving both women of their liberty.

The man, wearing dark green casual clothes, strode into the courtroom and looked into the gallery before sitting down.

Magistrates' Court One was crammed with ten police officers of various ranks for the hearing.

The women told Police the man sexually assaulted each of them at knife point and held them captive in a car as he drove around the Island until one of them was able to escape.
