The Department of Agriculture has reported that 5,257 gallons, or 57,827 pounds, of the sweet stuff was produced from 326 hives.

As an export, honey's wholesale value generated $180,000.

Agriculture assistant director Dr. Roberta Dow said good rainfall patterns led to high flower production. As a result, Brazilian pepper and fiddlewood, the two major sources for honey, bloomed over an unusually long season.

Honey is Bermuda's only agricultural export.

ROYAL THANKS VIP The Queen has written a personal note of appreciation to the people and Government of Bermuda for Easter lilies sent to her.

She also wrote that she had enjoyed her visit to the Island between March 8 and 10 this year.

In the letter, addressed to Governor Lord Waddington, the Queen wrote: "The lovely Bermuda Easter lilies have arrived safely and greeted us here with their wonderful scent as the family have gathered for Easter weekend.

"It is a much appreciated gift each year, made even more so by having been in the Island so recently for a most enjoyable visit.'' STARK WARNING CTS An acting magistrate delivered a stark warning yesterday to a teenager caught speeding this month.

The Wor. Kim White reminded Adam Davis, 17, of Southampton of the tragic road deaths of teenagers Miss Zalita Hunt and Mr. Kioshi Edwards this week in a bike crash in Somerset.

LITTERBUG FINED CTS A 29 year-old Pembroke man caught littering at Admiralty House was fined $50 in Magistrates' Court.

Kurt Martin of Cove Lane pleaded guilty to throwing a can of sausages at a wall.

Prosecutor Sgt. Kenrick James told the court that on March 26 Police arrested Martin for another offence.
