The big blue marble
landscape and tundra. High mountain peaks lead to low unprotected valleys that are vulnerable to the great winds and waters. This scene is unfolding in an enormous ocean which is by far much greater than the lands.
It is like a single chord in comparison to a whole octave. Within the smaller semi-enclosure of the two parts of land is swirling cloud, like a wheel spinning upon an invisible axle, slowly its direction changes from a powerful western run to a slow struggling northern crawl. Frequently a thread of lighting can be seen across the sphere, from a fierce rage of anger to a calm subtle light show. I watch in amazement.
As I circle in orbit, the largest land mass comes into view. I notice mountains and valleys, barren and plentiful landscapes. Cities are as little specks of dancing bright lights, while country villages slip by unnoticed by comparison.
My travels take me from the cold Arctic of the north to the tropical climate of the equator, from the morning of the east to the unilluminated night of the west. As I continue my circumnavigation of the globe, I come to an ocean, full, blue and scarcely decorated. As my travels take me back to my point of origin I contemplate the beauty in all that I have seen. From the industrial cities to the undisturbed forests; from the cold Arctic to the tropical islands; all are indeed unique. This is planet earth.
