And thieves took a handbag containing a Nokia mobile phone and a pair of trousers from a house on Pleasantville Lane, Sandys.

In addition, six boxes of crystal ware and a Technics reciever were taken from a house in Rosemount Avenue, Pembroke, on Sunday.

FIREFIGHTERS ALERTED OVER TRAPPED DOG FIR Firefighters alerted over trapped dog Firefighters responded to a call that a dog was trapped under a car yesterday.

One appliance attended Timber Lane, Fairylands, at 9.40am, but the dog had already been released by neighbours. The dog was believed to have suffered a broken leg and was treated by a vet.

Later yesterday a fire tender attended a cruise ship in St. George's to take a woman to hospital.

The woman was taken off the Venus at 11.43am to King Edward Memorial Hospital.

A false alarm at the Hamilton Princess resulted in a fire crew attending at 12.25am yesterday.

COLLEGE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY MOVED EDC College commencement ceremony moved The Bermuda College will hold this year's annual commencement ceremony at Stonington Campus in Paget for the first time ever.

The graduation ceremony has been held in recent years at the Anglican Cathedral, on Church Street in Hamilton.

The recent unification of the campus has prompted the Board of Directors to move the ceremony and students will now be able to have five invited guests.

Board chairman Brian Hall said: "The unification of the campus at Stonington will be underlined by holding the ceremony at the College.'' Bermuda College president Dr. George Cook noted that Stonington was where the students worked hard to achieve their goals.

"It seems only fitting that this should be the place where their achievements are honoured,'' he said.

And student government president Kenneth Caesar said he had been approached by students about the move.

"A lot of the students have expressed their agreement with the idea of holding the ceremony here on campus,'' he added.

SCRAMBLER'S BIKE SEIZED BY POLICE CRM Scrambler's bike seized by Police A young scrambler was stopped in his tracks when Police impounded his bike on Sunday evening.

Police were called to Hog Bay Park in Sandys Parish after neighbours had complained of a number of bikes scrambling in the area. The officers found a 17-year-old Sandys Parish youth riding his bike along the trail.

The bike was seized, impounded for excessive noise and later released.

BRIEFCASE WITH CASH TAKEN FROM BAKERY VAN CRM Briefcase with cash taken from bakery van A thief stole a briefcase from a bakery van after the driver left the vehicle unattended.

Police said the van was parked outside Somers Supermarket on York Street, St.

George's between 9 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. on Monday.

The driver of the van, who had left the vehicle unattended, returned to discover the briefcase -- which contained a wallet and other items -- stolen.

Police said the wallet contained a "small amount'' of cash.
