Police said yesterday.

Guest houses and hotels continued to be targets. The Police blotter listed two Pembroke properties, a Sandys guest cottage and two Paget hotels.

Police also reported two handbag snatches, a sexual assault, an assault which saw a woman hospitalised with knife wounds and a Richmond Road road traffic accident that left a car lying upside down.

All the offences occurred between Friday and Sunday nights.

Police reported a 61-year-old Pembroke man in custody yesterday following the Friday evening assault which left a 39-year-old woman suffering knife wounds.

The Devonshire woman was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with cuts to an arm and a possible broken arm.

At a Pembroke Hotel, a couple reported someone entering their room early on Saturday as they slept. The culprit removed a purse containing cash and personal items.

On Saturday, visitors at a Pembroke guest house reported thieves entering their room during the early evening and removing a jewellery box containing rings and bracelets.

At a Sandys guest cottage at 5.30 a.m. on Saturday, a couple woke to find an intruder in their room. The man fled empty-handed.

A similar experience occurred in a St. George's home at 4.00 a.m. when a woman woke to see a man in her room. Again, the intruder left empty-handed.

A visiting couple at a Paget guest house were not so lucky. On Saturday evening, while they were out, their room was broken into. Police said a wallet, purse and watch were stolen.

At a Paget hotel on Sunday morning, a visitor reported his room was entered some time during the night while he slept. The thief made off with a handbag, jewellery and a watch.

One of the two handbag snatches over the weekend victimised a visitor.

Police said the visitor was walking along Pitts Bay Road about 5.20 p.m. on Saturday when a male cyclist rode up behind her, mounted the sidewalk and pulled the bag from the woman's shoulder.

At 1 a.m. that day, a Smith's woman had her handbag snatched from her cycle as she rode along South Shore Road. A man rode up behind her and snatched away the woman's leather bag despite the fact it was secured by a bungie chord.

Yesterday's Police report also included the start of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault.

It was activated by the complaint of a 23-year-old Sandys woman. A 26-year-olds Sandys man is "assisting Police'' with their inquiries.

The weekend ended with an odd car accident along Richmond Road by Ferrar's Lane where the driver "failed to negotiate the sharp right bend''.

Police found a Nissan Sunny car overturned and lying on its roof. The driver was unhurt and arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
