Trash bag for Minister!

Government minister in charge. Mrs. Sally Godet walked into Dr. Clarence Terceira's office at Works and Engineering yesterday and left him a sack of trash.

She says the garbage was thrown onto her property on Middle Road, Paget, by workers who are putting up a wall. "We're being told by Dr. Terceira that we should recycle trash and that we should go to a lot of trouble,'' she said.

"But his own men are throwing it on my property.'' Mrs. Godet said not all the five or six men working on the wall were responsible for the litter. "They're awfully nice guys and I feel a bit mean doing this to them, but I've asked them a number of times not to throw trash and then you go along and find all these paper bags full of their lunch wrappers and bottles and cans. Because the trash is always the same you know they're throwing it.'' Mrs. Godet filled a large trash bag with five weeks' worth of litter and drove into Hamilton with it. "Dr. Terceira was in a meeting but I delivered it,'' she said. "I gave it to a girl member of staff in his office. The employees there were deadpan.'' The Minister told The Royal Gazette that littering by workers was "definitely a no-no''. "We will correct it right away, and I would thank Mrs. Godet for bringing it to our attention.''
