Two men were yesterday charged in Magistrates' Court with importing large quantities of cannabis to the Island.

Craig Desmond Laws and Robert Rudolph Hudson were not required to enter pleas to the indictable offences.

Laws, 21, of Ferry Reach, St. George's, was charged with importing and possessing 9.5 pounds of cannabis, with an estimated street value of $216,500, and Hudson, 24, of Pembroke, was charged with importing and possessing nearly seven pounds of the drug, estimated at more than $173,000.

Both offences occurred at the Airport on February 27, after the men returned on a flight from Jamaica.

Senior Magistrate, the Wor. Will Francis released Laws on $10,000 bail and a like surety. Mr. Francis set bail for Hudson at $8,000 with a like surety.

Laws and Hudson are to report to Hamilton Police Station twice a week, and were ordered to surrender all travel documents.

Crown Counsel Mr. Brian Calhoun is prosecuting. Laws is represented by Mr.

Archie Warner, and Mr. Richard Hector is representing Hudson.

Mr. Francis set the matter down for mention on April 27.
