Two new senior education officer
of schools.
Mrs. Vivlyn Cooper of Dellwood and Mrs. Donna Daniels of Port Royal are expected to strengthen the liaison between schools and professional staff at the Education Ministry, Education Minister the Hon. Clarence Terceira said.
Both principals are also expected to spend most of their time in schools for which they will have direct responsibility.
"One of their most important responsibilities will be to assist principals with the implementation of an improved teacher supervision programme,'' Dr.
Terceira said.
"That programme is designed to help teachers to teach more effectively, and thus, to increase student learning.'' Mrs. Cooper, who has taught in public primary and secondary schools since 1966, holds a Master's degree in Education.
Mrs. Daniels, who has taught in public schools since 1974, has a Master's degree in English education for primary and secondary schools.
Both women were selected by former Education Minister the Hon. Gerald Simons to lead action teams established under the Education Planning Team process.
Mrs. Cooper led the team that developed plans for a comprehensive staff development programme, and Mrs. Daniels led the team that developed plans for the integration of special-needs children into regular schools.
Both women will be taking up the recently-established post of Senior Education Officers of Schools from September 1. PHOTO Mrs. Vivlyn Cooper Mrs. Donna Daniels.
