Although details of the settlement will not be revealed until the agreement is signed today, The Royal Gazette has been told that the talks went "smoothly''.

Last night a spokeswoman for the Bermuda Hospitals Board said: "Final details of the settlement were mapped out today and both parties agreed that the process went smoothly, due largely to the efforts of the mediator, Neville Darrell.

"The settlement will be signed by both parties tomorrow.'' Talks were called for by the Bermuda Public Services Association last Wednesday after nurses threatened industrial action over the appointment of an expatriate to a top management position.

LAWN FURNTITURE STOLEN CRM Lawn furniture stolen Police are investigating the theft of garden furniture from a Pembroke home.

A Bandroom Lane resident reported the theft of lawn furniture from her garden, believed to have occurred sometime on Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

Four white plastic chairs were stolen and a matching round table with the name "Forbson'' written on the underside. Lawn furniture has been removed twice from the residence.

PARK IS SET TO ROCK ENT Park is set to rock Victoria Park will echo with "Rock & Roll and Some Soul'' this Sunday as the 1998 Concert in the Park series continues.

Sponsored by the Bank of Butterfield and the Corporation of Hamilton, the concert promises to by the highlight of the Concerts in the Park 1998 schedule.

Entertainent for the evening will include a performance by comic and pianist Jimmy Keys. There will also be a diverse mix of rock 'n' roll and soul performances by Last Rights, KeyStone, Quick Connect, Bermuda Toads and the Blooze Bandits.

Peter Lewis, DJ of VSB's Mix 106 morning radio programme, will be Master of Ceremonies.

The concert will begin at 6 p.m., weather permitting. The public are invited to bring along a picnic supper. The Lions Club canteen will serve refreshments.

BUILDING SITE RAIDED CRM Building site raided Construction equipment was stolen from a renovation site on West Avenue in Southampton sometime between July 6 and 14.

The culprit or culprits broke into the house and stole a circular saw and a cordless drill. Electrical piping and solvents were also removed.

VISITOR FINED FOR DRUGS CTS Visitor fined for drugs Possessing more than two grams of cannabis cost an American visitor $200 yesterday.

David Warren Clausen, 18, of New York, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to possessing 2.61 grams of cannabis.

Crown counsel Leighton Rochester told the court that the drugs were found on Monday after Clausen arrived on the Norwegian Crown cruise ship from New York with his parents and sisters and the drugs were found in a search.

"A Penny for Your Thoughts'' gives the perspectives of young people on topics such as teen pregnancy, drugs and religion.
