The smash occurred at about 2 a.m. on Lane Hill, at the Cavendish Road junction.

Police say the man, on a livery cycle, appeared to collide with the sidewalk and fall into the road.

"No other vehicles are believed to have been involved,'' said Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning.
