John Williams, 30, an American citizen, admitted to cocaine possession and having the prescription drug hydrocodone.

Prosecutor, Insp. Peter Duffy, told Senior Magistrate, the Wor. Will Francis that on May 9 Williams arrived at the Airport, and a search by Customs officials revealed the drugs.

A film canister contained 30 tablets, and a folded dollar bill held 0.03 grams of a white powder. Tests indicated that eight of the pills were hydrocodone -- an analgesic which is often abused -- and the powder to be 65 percent pure cocaine in its salt form.

Williams told Police that the pills were a prescription, but could not produce evidence. He said that efforts to contact his doctor had been unsuccessful as the physician was on vacation.

Mr. Francis fined Williams $200 for having the cocaine, and $100 for having the pills.

GAS PRICE UP EGY Wholesale and retail fuel prices were increased as of yesterday, the Finance Ministry announced.

Gasoline went up by 0.2 cents a litre, diesel by 0.9 cents, and kerosene by 0.6 cents.

As a result, the maximum retail prices for the products are as follows: gasoline 111.3 cents a litre, diesel 86.0 cents a litre, and kerosene, 65.3 cents a litre.

BANNED AGAIN CTS Driving while disqualified and speeding at 51 kph cost a Pembroke man $450 in fines and another disqualification when he appeared in Magistrates' Court.

Randall Walker, 34, of Marsh Folly Road pleaded guilty to the charges.

Prosecuting, Sgt. Kenrick James told the court that on October 19 Police stopped Walker on North Shore Road for speeding and discovered he was banned from driving. Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Walker $150 for speeding at 51 kph and $300 and for driving while disqualified. He was banned from driving for another six months.

PAGET BREAK-IN CRM Visitors at a Paget guest house woke up to find a man in their room early on Thursday morning. The intruder immediately fled, taking a wallet and a handbag with him. The handbag contained cash, credit cards and other personal items.

WATCH STOLEN CRM Thieves made off with a watch and a Magnavox video camera during a daytime break-in on Harbour Road in Warwick. Central CID is investigating.
