Now Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

The 30-year-old victim was approaching the junction of Front Street and King Street around 11.30 p.m. on Saturday when her attacker pounced.

She handed over an unknown amount of cash and the man walked off west along Front Street.

The woman was unhurt, but "extremely distressed'', added the Police spokesman.

TAXI ROBBER IMPRISONED CTS Taxi robber imprisoned A 29-year-old man who robbed a taxi driver of $35 just days after being freed from prison was yesterday told he'll be spending more time at Westgate.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis tacked another six months onto Heman Viera's current 12-month sentence after he was found guilty of robbing taxi driver Beutin Bailey.

Court was told Viera, already back in jail on another matter, hired a cab on September 10 to take him to the Spice Hill Road area in Warwick. Once there, he instructed Bailey to shuttle him between Spice Hill Road, Tribe Road 7, and Camp Hill Road area, claiming he was looking for a friend.

At one point, Viera returned to the taxi and reached across to the driver, pulling money out of Bailey's shirt pocket.

Viera later admitted the theft to Police, claiming he only stole $13 -- which he used to hire another cab.

TAXI, CAR DAMAGED CRM Taxi, car damaged A taxi and a private car sustained minor damage after an accident yesterday morning on Queen Street.

The taxi driver told Police that he was driving north on Queen Street in the left lane around 6.30 a.m. when the collision with the car occurred.

After the accident, the driver of the car failed to stop and Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen what took place. Witnesses should call Hamilton CID at 295-0011.

SCHOOLGIRL ARRESTED CRM Schoolgirl arrested A schoolgirl was arrested on Friday afternoon on suspicion of stealing cosmetics from a Hamilton store.

The 14-year-old Sandys girl was detained by staff at the Phoenix Store, Reid Street, after she was allegedly seen putting cosmetics in her bag and attempt to leave the store.

When Police arrived and searched the girl they allegedly found items from other stores on her. A Police spokesman said inquiries are continuing.

POLICE MAKE ARREST CRM Police make arrest A man was arrested on Friday afternoon on suspicion of having crack cocaine.

The Pembroke 24-year-old was arrested on Elliott Street when he was discovered to be in possession of a rock-like substance and drug-related equipment.

A Police spokesman said the man was expected to appear in court "in due course'', subject to analysis of the alleged drugs.
