Roydell Rosemary Stovell of no fixed address was charged with stealing one gold plated necklace, one pair of gold plated earrings, one gold charm bracelet and a quartz watch from the First Church Of God on North Shore in Pembroke on July 11. The items belonged to Syreeta Bean.

Police saw Stovell on Crow Lane around 7 p.m. that same day. She was wearing the jewellery. She was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station.

Allan Elfie Cann, of Lapsley Lane, Sandys, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving while impaired.

Police saw Cann's car cross the centre line of the road near Grey's Bridge in Sandys as he travelled east shortly before 3 a.m. on July 10, prosecutor Sgt.

The driver of the Police car had to swerve to avoid a collision with Cann's car. Police followed Cann to Mangrove Bay where he was stopped.

They smelt alcohol on his breath and noticed that his speech was slurred, Sgt.

James said. Cann told Police he had had a few beers and scotch.

The lowest reading on the alco-analyser showed 151 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

OFF THE ROAD CTS A 36-year-old Southampton woman whose car nearly collided with a Police car was fined $400 and taken off the road for a year.

Elizabeth Flores, of Riviera Estate, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving while impaired.

Police were travelling west on Middle Road, Southampton when a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction veered towards their car, causing the driver to swerve to avoid a collision.

Sgt. Kenrick James, prosecuting, said Flores was stopped and Police noticed that her breath smelt of alcohol and she was unsteady on her feet. Flores told Police she had consumed two drinks.

The lowest reading on the alco-analyser showed 158 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
