Work resumes at recycling centre
Although the dispute has been settled, it is understood that talks are continuing between the workers and management at the site today.
Twelve full-time workers walked out on Monday in protest at wages being paid to four new part-time staff. Negotiations on the same day were unable to resolve the situation and management closed the centre to the public.
The centre has re-opened and collection of recyclable items resumed yesterday.
All the workers are back on the site.
The dispute centres around new workers who were taken on to clear a backlog of recycable materials and their rates of pay, which the full-time staff are not happy with.
The part-time workers continued to work during the stoppage and are understood to be happy with their wages.
