Youth guilty of sexual assault
schoolgirl on a public bus.
The boy -- who cannot be named for legal reasons -- yesterday pleaded guilty in Juvenile Court to putting his hand inside the girl's skirt and putting his hand between her buttocks.
Acting Magistrate Justin Williams heard the assault occurred while the pair were on a Number 1 Route bus at the Washington Street Depot March 26, this year.
Prosecutor Insp. Peter Giles said they were waiting for ten minutes until a 4.45 p.m. departure time.
The boy entered the bus as the driver got off for a break and sat down beside the girl, who was sitting behind her sister and friend.
The assault began when the boy pressed his right side into her left side.
He then stretched out his arm to rest it on the back of her seat then lowered it down her back, while rubbing her.
Insp. Giles said after she protested at his groping, he called the girl derogatory names and was told to move by the bus driver.
He also threw foam from a bus seat at the girl before getting off the bus in Devonshire.
On May 7 he was identified on another bus on the Number 1 route.
Insp. Giles said when the boy was questioned by Police in his mother's presence, he admitted the charge, saying: "She looked good. I touched her because I wanted to and I stopped because I felt like it.'' A social inquiry report was ordered on the youth. He was released without bail and ordered to return on October 20 for sentencing.
