A Hamilton Parish man caught with cannabis was fined $1,000 in Magistrates' Court.

Glenn Walker, 21, of Radnor Road Close, pleaded guilty to possessing 0.37 grams of the controlled drug on March 11.

The court heard he was stopped by uniformed Police officers for a traffic violation near My Lord's Bay Road in Hamilton Parish.

Walker was searched by officers who found a white paper twist in the left pocket of his jeans.

He was cautioned about the offence, to which he replied: "I am in mourning, I am stressed out."

Yesterday he asked Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner to give him a second chance.

Walker said: "I would like to formalise this has been my first and only crime and I have been abroad to further my education already.

"I was hoping to go back and get my Bachelor's and I was hoping to get another chance."
