Bank worker admits stealing $900 from customers account
A 23-year-old former bank employee yesterday admitted stealing $900 from a customer's accounts.
Jayne Dill, from Oriel Lane, Sandys, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to theft and falsifying account documents in January of this year.
Dill was working at the Church Street office of HSBC Bermuda at the time of the offence.
According to Crown counsel Takiyah Burgess, a customer came to the Bank on January 13 to complain about several transactions, which he said he never authorised.
After an investigation, Dill was questioned by Police and admitted transferring the money from the customer's account and into an account shared by Dill and her mother.
In court, Dill apologised for stealing the money, telling Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner that she had already paid back $500 and would pay off the remainder before the end of the year.
Mr. Warner ordered a social inquiry report and released Dill on $2,000 bail to return on January 7 for sentencing.
