Baseball clinic cancelled
Tonight's baseball clinic with former Major League star Ron Darling has been cancelled.
The "Feel the Love" event was scuppered because Mr. Darling was unable to fly to Bermuda at the last moment yesterday.
A statement, from Glenn Jones, Press Secretary to Minister of Tourism and Premier Ewart Brown, said: "The Department of Tourism sends its apologies to the young players and their parents who had shown interest in participating in the event. Sports-Net New York - the Mets TV broadcaster - has also offered its regrets on behalf of the New York Mets organization and Mr. Darling. Efforts are already underway to reschedule the clinic, but thus far no date is confirmed."
The free clinic was slated for tonight to coincide with the Major League Baseball All-Star break and is part of the Department of Tourism's partnership with the New York Mets.
Mr. Darling is a former Major League Baseball All-Star starting pitcher who won a World Series Championship with the New York Mets in 1986. He is now a TV analyst for the team.
