Berkeley pair arrested
Two teenage boys injured in a knife-fight at the Berkeley Institute have been arrested.
The secondary school was placed on "lockdown" in the aftermath of the incident on Tuesday lunchtime, which saw one 16-year-old receive multiple stab wounds and the other a cut to his hand.
The boys were taken to hospital while the rest of the students at the 700-strong school were confined in their classrooms until the end of the school day. Speaking to the media as they left, some of the students said the violence resulted from a dispute over drugs.
One boy reportedly attempted to rob the other for drugs leaving him with multiple injuries but his own hand got cut during the process.
Giving an update yesterday, a Police spokesman said both boys were arrested after they'd been treated at the hospital and released. The one who suffered a cut hand was arrested for allegedly wounding and the one who suffered multiple injuries was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug.
Both have been bailed pending further investigations. Neither of their names have been made public.
