Berkeley students learn the art of a good job interview

Dress for success: Students at Berkeley Institute attended a workshop on how to dress and present themselves when applying for jobs.

On the same day that a workshop for unemployed Bermudians was held at Bermuda College, Berkeley Institute's class of 2010 spent yesterday attending their annual Senior Seminar, which focused on preparing students for entering the workforce after they finish school.

The young men and women came to school dressed in their sharpest outfits and spent the day learning the ins and outs of applying for a job, interview skills and other important tools that they will need to be successfully employed.

The Berkeley players, a stage performance group made up of some of Berkeley's many students, staged an informative yet hilarious skit highlighting the dos and don'ts of interviewing for a new job.

Workshops throughout the day informed students about proper business dress, interview skills, marketing one's self and completing scholarship applications.

The new Director of Educational Standards and Accountability from the Ministry of Education, Dr. Lou Matthews, was the keynote speaker for the event and he encouraged the students to pursue their goals and to follow Berkeley's school motto: "Keep the end in view".
