Bermuda book on National Geographic's top 50 travel books list

A popular travel magazine has listed a book about Bermuda as one of the world's best travel books. National Geographic Traveler ranked the 1995 book 'Bermuda Shorts: The Hidden Side of the Richest Place on Earth' by T.C. Sobey as 21 out of 50 top book.

The magazine places it above such critically acclaimed novels as 'Gone with the Wind', 'A Confederacy of Dunces' and 'Snow Falling on Cedars', describing it as one of the best books for enhancing a travel experience. "Each of these books will illuminate your destination, give unexpected tips on what to see and do, and keep you turning pages during that long flight," said the magazine.

'Bermuda Shorts', which is made up largely of news items from The Royal Gazette, was credited by the magazine with showing a side of Bermuda that most tourists do not see.
