Olympia Corrent, ex-Premier's sister died of natural causes
The death of Olympia Corrent, daughter of labour leader Dr. E.F Gordon and sister of former Premier Pamela Gordon, was a result of natural causes.
Ms Corrent, 64, was found by relatives at the home where she lived alone on Victoria Street, Hamilton, on Saturday. The Bermuda Police Service said a post-mortem was carried out by a certified physician who reported that death was as a result of natural causes.
Premier Paula Cox extended her sincerest condolences to Ms Corrent's family soon after the announcement.
Policeman injured after road crash
A Police officer was injured after his Police car collided with a heavy truck earlier this week.
A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said details were "unclear" but that the collision happened on Middle Road, near Tamarind Vale, in Warwick. Traffic was temporarily diverted on to Harbour Road as a result.
Sick US Navy sailor airlifted to the Island
A member of the US Navy's Second Fleet was brought to Bermuda via helicopter with suspected acute appendicitis on Saturday afternoon.
Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre received a call about the 32-year-old man just after 12.30 p.m. A duty officer said: "He was on a warship and we were told he was going to be airlifted from the ship, wherever it was, to Bermuda."
The helicopter landed at L. F. Wade International Airport, where an ambulance was waiting to take the seaman to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, at about 3.45 p.m.
The duty officer said the man later was found not to have appendicitis and was undergoing further tests.
Family rescued when sailboat capsized
Marine Police rescued a man and four children who ended up in the sea when their sailboat capsized yesterday.
The 20ft Sea Pony was spotted getting into difficulty in Two Rock Passage — the channel that leads into Hamilton Harbour — by someone in Fairylands, who called Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre at 3.15 p.m. A duty officer said: "We dispatched Marine Police. The Police were there within two minutes of them capsizing.
"They went and got them out of the water, towed the people to the beach, helped bail out the sailboat and towed the boat to its moorings at Mill Creek."
No one was injured.
