Two men aged 24 and 19 have been arrested in connection with a burglary on Christmas Eve.
Both men were in the vicinity of Robertson's Drugstore in St. George's when Police on mobile patrol around 3.40 a.m. were alerted to the burglary.
Officers discovered the 24-year-old inside the premises who tried to escape, but was quickly apprehended inside the building and arrested in connection with the offence.
The 19-year-old was arrested on an outstanding warrant after he was found acting suspiciously near the drugstore.
Man admits stealing handbag at hotel ball
A Smith's man was handed a suspended prison sentence when he appeared in Magistrates' Court for stealing.
Martin Webb Morris, 37, pleaded guilty to stealing a handbag with a Butterfield Bank card and $50 cash after he was identified by a witness in a Police line-up.
In his own defence Morris said: "I honestly don't remember anything. I may have been drunk at the time. The only reason I pled guilty is because it's the Police's word against mine.
"When the officer called my landlord and informed him they needed to speak to me I turned myself in."
The court heard that Morris, of Gatehead Lane, was spotted outside the Poinsettia Room at the Southampton Princess where the St. Andrew Caledonian Ball was taking place on November 29.
A woman attending the event left the Poinsettia Room for a short while and upon her return saw Morris, who introduced himself as Bruce, standing outside in the corridor. Morris started a conversation with the woman and asked her about the event going on inside.
A short time later the same woman left to go to the bathroom and saw Morris still lurking. She saw him again later in the evening inside the Poinsettia Room pacing back and forth and noticed he had to be escorted out of the ballroom.
The woman, who had left her purse on the table while she was on the dance floor, found out some time later that a white male fitting Morris' description left with her bag with items valuing $175.
Morris was later interviewed by Police and denied taking the bag, however a witness at the event identified him as the thief.
The court heard that Morris has previous convictions of a similar nature.
On November 28 last year he was handed a six-month sentence, suspended for 24 months and two years probation for a charge of dishonesty.
On March 18 he was caught stealing again and the suspended sentence was activated. He was released from Westgate prison on July 18.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner asked: "What am I going to do with you Mr. Morris?" He then gave Morris a 12-month prison sentence suspended for two years.
Mr. Warner also ordered him to complete 24 months of probation with the added condition of completing any drug or rehabilitative programmes prescribed by court services.
Two road accidents, one man arrested
An accident on Tuesday left a man with left and neck injuries, while another accident hours later left a second man in handcuffs.
At around 10.40 p.m. on Tuesday, Police responded to a single vehicle accident on South Road, in Smith's.
A Police spokesman said: "It appears that a motorcycle was travelling east near the junction of St. Mark's Road when the rider, a 34-year-old Smith's parish man, lost control and collided with a wall."
The rider was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital suffering a broken left leg and a neck injury.
At 2.05 a.m. yesterday, Police responded to another single vehicle accident, this time in Somerset.
"It appears a car was travelling north on Horseshoe Road when the driver, a 21-year-old Hamilton Parish man, lost control and collided with a wall," the spokesman said.
While the driver was not injured in the crash, he later failed an alco-analyser test and was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
