Bermudian Louis Pantry, former RCMP Ch. Supt. dies in Canada

News has been received of the death of Louis G. Pantry, a Bermudian who rose be a Chief Superintendent in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Mr. Pantry, the brother of the late Hilary Barritt, wife of former Speaker of the House of Assembly John Barritt, emigrated to Canada and joined the RCMP in 1947 after serving in the Bermuda Engineers in the Second World War.

He rose to be commanding officer of RCMP L Division in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island before retiring in 1975.

He was also active in Boy Scouting, the Anglican Church, Masonic Lodges, the United Way and Rotary.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Vlark, three children and three stepchildren.
