Beverle Lottimore named Premier's press secretary

Beverle Lottimore

Premier Paula Cox yesterday announced that the head of Government's Department of Communication and Information Beverle Lottimore has been appointed as her new press secretary.

Ms. Lottimore, who will continue as Director of DCI, will serve as the Premier's primary media liaison to both the local and overseas press, attending to significant matters of interest to the Bermudian public.

Ms Cox said: "I am extremely pleased to welcome Director Lottimore to the team. We recognise that the delivery of a clear message on the work of our administration is essential, and Ms. Lottimore has a dedication and work ethic that will fit well."

Ms. Lottimore said: "To serve in this capacity as a team member of the Cox Administration is an honour I accept with the understanding that I will rise each day to meet the high standards of the Premier of our Country and the people whom we serve.

"It is humbling and exhilarating and I have no doubt that as long as I remain mindful of the service required of me, I will succeed."

Ms. Lottimore is joined in the Cabinet Office team by newly appointed Senator, David Burt, who has also assumed the role of Chief of Staff and Scott Simmons who has undertaken the responsibility of Press Attaché, with a concentration on the political aspects of press relations in the Premier's capacity as Leader of the Progressive Labour Party.

Former Premier Ewart Brown had a total of four press secretaries during his term in office.
